Explora el fascinante pasado de Pokhara y descubre cómo se ha desarrollado a lo largo de los siglos.
Originally inhabited by the Gurung and Magar ethnic groups in the surrounding hills and by the Newar community in the valley, Pokhara was a crucial crossing point on the trans-Himalayan trade routes linking India to Tibet.
In the 18th century it became part of the unified kingdom of Nepal under the Shah dynasty. In the 1950s, the arrival of Tibetan refugees and the opening of the first roads transformed the valley, boosting textile crafts and local trade.
Since the 1970s, with the arrival of the hippie movement and the rise of mountaineering on the Annapurna Circuit, Pokhara evolved to become the epicenter of ecotourism, extreme sports and wellness in the Himalayas.
La cronología histórica muestra los momentos clave que han definido el desarrollo de Pokhara a lo largo de los siglos.
