Lisbonの魅力的な過去を探索し、Lisbonが何世紀にもわたってどのように発展してきたかを発見してください。
One of the oldest cities in Western Europe. Legend attributes its foundation to Ulysses. It was an important Roman settlement called 'Olissipo' and later prospered under Muslim rule before the Christian Reconquest in 1147.
The 15th and 16th centuries marked the Age of Discovery and the golden age of Lisbon. As the center of a vast maritime empire, the city accumulated immense wealth, financing spectacular Manueline-style monuments such as the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery. In 1755, a devastating earthquake, followed by a tsunami and fires, destroyed much of the city, which was rebuilt under the Marquis of Pombal with a modern grid plan for the Baixa neighborhood.
The Carnation Revolution in 1974 ended decades of dictatorship. Expo '98 was the catalyst for a major urban modernization in the Park of Nations area. Today, Lisbon is a dynamic technological and creative hub, and one of the most popular destinations in Europe.
