Public transportation is the weak point of the island. It is chaotic, often expensive for tourists and not very efficient.
Most tourists are concentrated in the south. The northern beaches, such as Mai Khao (where you can watch the planes land) or Nai Thon, are much quieter and unspoiled.
Known as Naka Market, it is a huge and vibrant market where you will find second-hand clothing, souvenirs, and a spectacular food section. It is the best market experience on the island.
