Discover the 'Hofjes'
Like other Dutch cities, Utrecht has hidden inner courtyards ('hofjes') surrounded by old houses. Look for the Pandhof van de Dom (next to the cathedral) and the Pandhof van Sint-Marie.
Climb the Dom Tower (if you can)
It is the heart of the city. The climb is an effort, but the views and the feeling of being in the center of Holland are a great reward. Check if it is open to the public, since it has been under restoration.
