City: Zadar

Zadar is a historical gem and the gateway to northern Dalmatia, a city that seamlessly combines its immense 3,000-year-old heritage with bold modern creativity. Its old town, situated on a compact peninsula, is a treasure trove of Roman ruins, medieval churches and elegant Venetian walls. But what makes Zadar unique is its seafront, where contemporary art meets nature to create the Sea Organ, which plays music with the waves, and the Greeting to the Sun, which creates a light show at dusk. With fewer crowds than Split or Dubrovnik and a relaxed atmosphere, Zadar offers a more authentic and surprisingly poetic Dalmatian experience.

Tips for Adventure

Climb the bell tower of the Cathedral

It offers the best panoramic view of the old town, the Roman Forum and the islands. It is the perfect way to understand the geography of the peninsula.

Look for bars in hidden patios

Get away from the main streets of the old town and into the alleys. You'll find charming bars hidden in medieval courtyards, such as the 'Garden Lounge'.

Sunset is an event

Do like the locals and go to the boardwalk an hour before sunset. Sit on the steps of the Sea Organ, listen to the music of the waves and wait for the Sun Salutation to come to life. It's a daily ritual.

tap water

The tap water is drinkable and of excellent quality.
