Strict Ban on Camouflage Clothing: In Barbados it is strictly prohibited by law for civilians (including children and foreign tourists) to wear military camouflage printed clothing, pants, caps, backpacks or accessories. The use of this print is reserved exclusively for the Barbados Defense Forces and customs police will confiscate these garments upon arrival at the airport.

Driving on the Left and Transport 'ZR': You drive on the left side of the road (British heritage). To rent a car, a temporary local driving license is required, which is processed by the rental agencies themselves. To get around the south and west coast economically and authentically, private minibuses known as 'ZR vans' (white vans with a maroon stripe) run continuously with reggae music at a very low fixed price each way.

Currency and Payments (Barbados Dollar and USD): The official currency is the Barbados Dollar (BBD), which has an official fixed exchange rate pegged to the US Dollar of 2 BBD = 1 USD. US dollars in cash are universally accepted in all establishments, taxis and restaurants on the island. International credit cards are widely accepted in shops and hotels.

Marine Protection and Turtles: Barbados rigorously protects its reefs and marine fauna through the Barbados Sea Turtle Project. It is completely prohibited to touch, harass or feed sea turtles while swimming with them, as well as using bright lights or disturbing nesting nests on beaches between May and October.
