Cathedral of Christ the Savior
The tallest Orthodox church in the world. Dynamited by Stalin, it was rebuilt identically in the 1990s. Its golden dome dominates the skyline.
Novodevichy Convent
A beautiful and peaceful 16th century fortress convent, with an adjacent cemetery where some of the most important figures in Russian history and culture are buried, such as Chekhov, Shostakovich and Yeltsin.
