Business hours are similar to those in the rest of Europe, from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Supermarkets and shopping centers in Chisinau have longer opening hours. In rural areas, stores may have shorter hours.

Internal Transportation

The most common and cheapest way to move between cities are minibuses, known as 'rutieră' (plural: 'rutiere'). They leave the bus stations ('autogara') when they are full. Trolleybuses are the main means of public transport in Chisinau. The train network is limited and slow.

Language

The official language is Romanian. Russian is also widely spoken and understood, especially by the older generations. English is gaining ground among young people and in Chisinau's tourism sector, but its use is limited in rural areas.
