Jerez de la Frontera is a city located in the province of Cádiz, in the autonomous community of Andalusia, Spain. With an approximate population of 213,000 inhabitants, it is the largest city in the province and an important cultural, historical and economic center. Its geographical location, in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, near the Atlantic coast and on the banks of the Guadalete River, gives it a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences. Jerez is world-renowned for its production of sherry wine, its equestrian tradition and its flamenco, being a cultural reference in these areas. The city combines a rich historical heritage that ranges from Tartessian and Phoenician settlements, through the Roman, Muslim and Christian era, to modernity. Monuments such as the Alcázar of Jerez, the Cathedral and numerous century-old wineries stand out. In addition, Jerez is home to international events such as the Flamenco Festival and the Motorcycle Grand Prix, which makes it a highly relevant tourist destination.
