Je l'ai déjà été !Explora el fascinante pasado de Antalya y descubre cómo se ha desarrollado a lo largo de los siglos.
Founded in the 2nd century BC. by Attalus II, king of Pergamon, who baptized it 'Attaleia'. It was soon conquered by the Romans, who left their mark with monuments such as Hadrian's Gate. During Roman times, it was a prosperous port and a starting point for Saint Paul on his missionary journeys.
After the fall of Rome, it became part of the Byzantine Empire. In the 13th century, it was conquered by the Seljuk Turks, who gave it its emblematic fluted minaret (Yivli Minare). Later, it was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire, maintaining its importance as a strategic port and commercial center on the Mediterranean coast.
After the founding of the Turkish Republic, Antalya began its most significant transformation. Starting in the 1970s, the rise of tourism turned it into the holiday metropolis that it is today, the heart of the Turquoise Coast and one of the most visited destinations in the world, attracting millions of visitors for its climate, its beaches and its rich history.
