Expériences uniques
Row a 'Pletna' to Bled Island
Board a 'pletna', the traditional wooden boat, and be taken by a rower to Slovenia's only natural island. Once there, you can visit the church, ring the wishing bell and try 'potica', a traditional cake, in the cafeteria. It is the quintessential Slovenian experience.
Travel by Train to the Heart of a Cave
Riding the electric train that runs through the interior of the Postojna Cave is a unique experience in the world. The journey takes visitors through a spectacular underground world of stalactites, stalagmites and vast galleries, including an encounter with the 'olm' or 'human fish', a creature endemic to these caves.
Hiking in Triglav National Park
Exploring Slovenia's only national park is to connect with nature in its purest state. From easy hikes around Lake Bohinj to challenging ascents of Mount Triglav, the country's highest peak, the park offers alpine landscapes of breathtaking beauty.
Tour Ljubljana by Bike
Discovering the green capital of Europe on two wheels is the best way to feel its pulse. Cycling along the Ljubljanica River, crossing its famous bridges (such as the Dragon Bridge), exploring the enormous Tivoli Park and enjoying a drink on one of its many terraces is an urban pleasure.
Kayaking on the Esmeralda River
The Soča River, with its incredible emerald color, is one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe. Kayaking or rafting in its white waters, surrounded by the landscapes of the Julian Alps, is a dose of adrenaline and unforgettable natural beauty. The area is a paradise for adventure sports.
Getting Lost in the Alleys of Piran
Walking through the maze of narrow streets of Piran is like being transported to a small Venice. This jewel of the Adriatic coast captivates with its Venetian architecture, its lively Tartini Square and the impressive views obtained by climbing the city walls or the church bell tower.
A Culinary Crossroads
Slovenian gastronomy is a delicious secret to discover. Its position at the crossroads of Europe gives it influences from Italian, Austrian, Hungarian and Balkan cuisines, but with its own character based on local and seasonal ingredients. The 'garden to table' philosophy is common practice.

Ljubljana: A Capital to Human Measurement

The Underground World of Karst
The Karst region gives its name to this geological phenomenon throughout the world. It is home to thousands of caves, including the famous Postojna Caves and Škocjan Caves (UNESCO), as well as Predjama Castle, built in the mouth of a cave.

The 47 kilometers of Slovenian coast are a gem. Piran is the most beautiful city, but Koper and Izola also have charming old towns. The Sečovlje salt pans and the Strunjan cliffs complete the coastal landscape.

Conseils de voyage
Highway Vignette
To drive on Slovenia's motorways and dual carriageways it is mandatory to purchase a vignette ('vinjeta'). It can be purchased digitally online before the trip or at gas stations near the border. Driving without it carries high fines.
Internal Transportation
The bus network is the most practical way to get between most cities and towns. Trains are also an option, although the network is less extensive. Renting a car is ideal for complete flexibility, especially for exploring rural areas.
Language
The official language is Slovenian. In the border areas with Italy and Hungary, these languages are also co-official. English is widely spoken and understood by the vast majority of the population, especially young people.
Tips
Tipping is not mandatory and service is usually included. However, it is common practice to round up the bill or leave between 5% and 10% in restaurants and bars if you have received good service.
This guide is just a small sample of what awaits you in the Green Heart of Europe. Slovenia is a country that surprises and delights, a perfect destination for those seeking nature, adventure and culture in an impeccable environment. We encourage you to explore every valley and every hill. Srečno pot! (Have a good trip!)
