The waters on the bay side and south (*Nantucket Sound*) are warmer in summer (around 18-21°C), while the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean (*Outer Cape*) are noticeably cold (14-17°C).
The waters of the Outer Cape are home to populations of gray seals that attract white sharks; Lifeguard warnings must be strictly followed. Ocean currents can also be strong.
