Cambodia uses a dual currency system. US dollars are used for almost all transactions (accommodations, restaurants, tickets). The Cambodian Riel (4000 KHR ≈ 1 USD) is mainly used as exchange for amounts less than one dollar. Make sure you bring dollars in good condition and small denominations.
Beware of the 'milk powder scam'. Often, women with babies will ask you to buy them a can of powdered milk from a specific store at an inflated price. Then, they return the can to the store and split the money with the owner. It is better to donate to reputable local NGOs if you want to help.
