Canada in 10 days
Canada in 10 days: Rockies (Banff/Lake Louise) and Vancouver or Calgary. Mountains + city without crossing the whole country.
Pick the West (and one hub)
In 10 days: Rockies (Banff, Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway) + Vancouver (or Calgary as gateway only). Don’t stack Toronto + Niagara + Montreal + Banff + Vancouver — Canada is a continent. East alternative: Toronto–Montreal–Quebec is another trip.

When

Total
10 days
Days 1–2Vancouver (or Calgary)
Stanley Park, Granville Island, a short ferry or soft jet-lag day. If you enter via Calgary: gateway city and drive to Banff.
- Vancouver–Calgary flight (or reverse) is usually saner than a 12h drive on day 1.
Days 3–6Banff & Lake Louise
Banff town, Sulphur or gentle walks, Lake Louise and Moraine (book shuttle/parking), sunsets without an infinite checklist.
- Parks Canada pass + Moraine shuttle in peak season — don’t wing it at 10:00.
Days 7–10Icefields & return
Icefields Parkway toward Jasper (out-and-back or overnight) or more Banff days. Return to Calgary/Vancouver with buffer.
- “Full” Jasper + Banff in 4 days means heavy driving — pick one axis.
Practical
Car in the Rockies
Rent from Calgary or Vancouver. Fuel and distances deceive. Winter: proper tires.
Where to stay
Vancouver downtown/Kits · Banff or Canmore (cheaper) · 1 night Lake Louise if budget allows.
Wildlife & weather
Bears: distance and secure food. Four seasons in a day. Pack layers.
Food
Poutine lite · Vancouver seafood · Banff cafés (pricey). Lake picnics = best ROI.
Tips
Sunrise at lakes
Louise/Moraine early = light and fewer people. Afternoon = parking drama.
All of Canada in 10 days
East + West is another logistics continent. One corridor well > two half-done.
Discovery Pass
If you visit several national parks, the annual pass often pays off.
Only parking-lot photos
A short walk (Lake Agnes lite, Johnston Canyon) changes the trip.
