In 10 days: Santiago (3–4) + Atacama (5–6) by flight. Alternative: Santiago + Patagonia lite (Puerto Natales / Torres del Paine base). Don’t stack Atacama + Patagonia + Easter Island + Valparaíso — Chile is long.

Days 1–3Santiago (+ Valparaíso or wine)
Lastarria/Bellavista, Cerro San Cristóbal or Santa Lucía, Mercado Central with judgment, and a half day Casablanca/Maipo or Valparaíso — not both forced.
- Jet lag: soft day 1. Santiago altitude is moderate; Atacama needs more respect.
Days 4–9Atacama (or Patagonia lite)
Flight to Calama → San Pedro. Moon Valley, lagoons/altiplano, geysers or stargazing. Alt: Punta Arenas/Puerto Natales + 1 Torres del Paine base day (not the full W trek).
- Atacama: hydrate, sunscreen, don’t jump to 4,000 m on day 1. Combined tours > three separate operators.
Day 10Buffer & departure
Return to Santiago for the international, or fly from Calama/Punta Arenas if connections allow. Leave margin for domestic delays.
- If you pick Patagonia lite, 5+ nights in the south — the flight already eats a day.

Domestic flights
SCL–Calama and SCL–Punta Arenas are frequent. Book early in peak Patagonia season.
Where to stay
Santiago: Lastarria/Providencia · San Pedro: town (walkable) · Natales: near centre or park shuttle.
Altitude & weather
Atacama: cold nights, high UV. Patagonia: wind and layers. Travel insurance covering tour cancellations.
Food
Seafood in Santiago · empanadas · valley wine · simple/pricey food in Atacama (pack snacks).
