3 days · City break
Dublin in 3 days
Dublin in 3 days: a walkable centre, pubs with judgment and a coast or Wicklow day. A realistic Irish city break.
Dublin is walked, not collected
In 3 days: the centre (Trinity, Grafton, Liffey), castle + one museum, and one day out (Howth or Wicklow). Temple Bar is a set piece — real life is in neighbourhood pubs and markets.

When
May–Jun / Sep
More light, less extreme rain.

Festivals and high prices. Book early.
Winter
Dark and damp; perfect for museums and pubs.
Budget / day

Food
€15–35
Tickets/DART

Total
3 days
Day 1Centre & Trinity
Trinity College (Book of Kells if you care), Grafton Street, St Stephen’s Green and Liffey at dusk.
- Book the Book of Kells online; the walk-up queue hurts.
Day 2Castle & museums
Dublin Castle or EPIC, National Gallery or Archaeology, and a real pub at night.
- Temple Bar: one photo pint, then move to Smithfield or Portobello.
Day 3Howth or Wicklow
DART to Howth (cliffs + seafood) or a Glendalough/Wicklow day if you want green.
- Howth is easier without a car; Wicklow usually needs a tour or rental.
Practical
DART & Leap
Leap Card or contactless. Centre is walkable; DART for the coast.
Where to stay
Temple Bar lite, Stoneybatter, Portobello or near St Stephen’s. Avoid “airport-only” stays.
Rain & prices
Always pack a rain jacket. Dublin is pricey — book hotels and Book of Kells early.
Food
Full Irish · fish & chips in Howth · Guinness in a local pub, not only tourist traps.
Tips
One day out of town
Howth or Wicklow give air and contrast; 3 centre-only days feel short.
Only Temple Bar at night
Expensive, loud and not local. Use a neighbourhood pub map.
Sunday
Some museums close early — plan coast or a long brunch.
Giant’s Causeway day trip from Dublin
5+ hours each way — better as another trip or Northern Ireland.
