Days 1–3

Helsinki

Design District, market or Kallio, ferry to Suomenlinna, public sauna (Löyly or other), and one museum (Ateneum/Kiasma) without forcing the full checklist.

  • Tram + walking is enough. Soft arrival day — jet lag and cold/light by season.
Days 4–7

Lapland

Flight to Rovaniemi (or Levi/Inari). One strong activity per day: huskies, snowshoes, aurora hunt or summer hike. Sauna + silence. Not five tours in 48 h.

  • Aurora: no guarantee. Pick an operator with cancel/retry and check KP — but go out and look anyway.

Practical

Domestic flights

HEL–RVN (and Levi via Kittilä) frequent. Night train to Lapland exists but eats a day — in 7 days prefer flight.

Where to stay

Helsinki: centre/Design District · Lapland: glass igloo lite or cabin — book winter months ahead.

Cold & light

Layers, boots, headlamp. Winter: insurance and activity cancel plan. Summer: sleep mask.

Food

Filter coffee · salmon · berries · pulla. Lunch menus save money. One serious Nordic dinner > three tourist traps.

Tips

Real sauna

Public or lodge: it’s culture, not a selfie. Ask etiquette (towel, gender, quiet).
