Philippines in 12 days
Philippines in 12 days: brief Manila + El Nido/Palawan or Cebu–Bohol. Islands and lagoons without attempting all 7,000 islands.
One island region, not a pin map
In 12 days: Manila (1) + Palawan (El Nido and/or Coron, 8–9) or Cebu–Bohol (8–9). Don’t stack El Nido + Coron + Siargao + Boracay + Bohol — weather and ferries win.

When
Dec–May (dry)
Best window for island hopping; Christmas/Easter pricey and full.
Jun–Nov
More rain and possible boat cancellations. Leave buffer days.
Shoulder Apr–May
Good climate/price balance before some markets’ school-summer peak.
Budget / day
US$40–100
Hotel
US$15–35
Food

Total
12 days
Day 1Manila (overnight)
International arrival, Intramuros or one neighbourhood if you have energy, and early flight next day. Don’t make Manila the main 12-day destination.
- Hotel near the airport or in Makati/BGC with a reliable transfer.
Days 2–11Palawan (El Nido) or Cebu–Bohol
El Nido: 2–3 island tours (A/B/C) without doing all four. Alt Coron (lagoon + wreck diving lite). Cebu–Bohol: falls, tarsiers, island hop and one soft day.
- A boat-free day is gold — sunburn and waves cancel tours. Book with flexible cancellation.
Day 12Buffer & departure
Return to Manila with margin, or fly international from Cebu if a route exists. Don’t leave the last ferry the same day as the long-haul.
- If combining El Nido + Coron, leave 5+ nights each — or pick only one.
Practical
Domestic flights
Manila–El Nido/Puerto Princesa/Cebu frequent. Strict low-cost baggage; El Nido van transfers take hours.
Where to stay
El Nido: town or Corong-Corong · Coron: near pier · Cebu: Moalboal or city depending on plan.
Weather & safety
Tours cancel for swell. Life jacket on boats. Insurance with cancellation. Cash outside reliable ATMs.
Food
Adobo · sinigang · grilled fish · halo-halo. Fresh fruit and bottled water.
Tips
2–3 island tours, not five
Well-chosen El Nido A/B/C > checklist of every letter.
Five “famous” islands in 12 days
You’ll see airports. One region, well.
Own snorkel
A mask that fits you changes the lagoon day.
Only party boat without snorkel
Pick an operator that respects the reef and time in the water — not only selfie sticks.
