In 7 days: Kraków (3–4) + Auschwitz or Tatras day + Warsaw (2–3) by train. Don’t stack Gdańsk + Wrocław + Poznań + Białowieża + Kraków.

Days 1–3

Kraków

Rynek, Wawel, Kazimierz, and one “neighbourhood only” day without three museums in a row. Pierogi and vodka with judgment.

  • Walkable centre — pick a hotel near the old town or Kazimierz.
Day 4

Auschwitz day or Tatras lite

Guided Auschwitz-Birkenau (mandatory booking; sober day). Alt: train/bus to Zakopane + Tatras lite walk (not express Slovak High Tatras).

  • Auschwitz is not a tourist checklist. Leave the evening free in Kraków after.
Days 5–7

Warsaw

PKP train: rebuilt old town, Uprising Museum or POLIN, Łazienki or Vistula bank. One museum day + one neighbourhood day.

  • Don’t copy Kraków’s pace — Warsaw is more modern and museum-led.

PKP Intercity Kraków–Warsaw ~2.5–3 h. Book seats at peak. Official app or station ticket.

Where to stay

Kraków: Stare Miasto/Kazimierz · Warsaw: Śródmieście/Stare Miasto · Zakopane only if Tatras.

Auschwitz & respect

Online slots; guided tour recommended. Sober dress and conduct. No selfies at memorial sites.

Food

Pierogi · żurek · schabowy · zapiekanka. Milk bars > fixed tourist menus on the square.

Kazimierz at night

More living Kraków than souvenir-only Rynek.

Auschwitz + Tatras same day

Pick one deep day. Mixing memorial and mountain selfie doesn’t fit.

POLIN or Uprising

One serious Warsaw museum > three express attractions. Budget time.

All of Poland in a week

Baltic coast and the west deserve another trip. Here: south + capital.
