Turkey in 10 days: Istanbul + Cappadocia + Ephesus/coast. A country route (not city-only): two domestic flights and a realistic pace.
Three hubs, not all of Turkey
In 10 days: Istanbul (3–4) + Cappadocia (3) + Ephesus / Aegean coast (2–3) with flights. Don’t stack Pamukkale + Antalya + Lycian Coast + Ankara + Trabzon. (City-only? Use the Istanbul 5-day guide.)

Ideal shoulder: pleasant Istanbul, Cappadocia for balloons, coast without extreme heat.

Peak coast; hot crowded Istanbul; book balloons early.

Days 1–4Istanbul
Sultanahmet (Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cistern) without three museums the same day, Bosphorus ferry, Karaköy/Galata, and a market or hammam. One “neighbourhood only” day wins.
- Museum Pass / slots: skip queues. Crossing the Golden Horn on foot changes the city.
Days 5–7Cappadocia
Flight to Kayseri/Nevşehir. Göreme open-air, valleys on foot or bike, sunset viewpoint. Balloon only if budget and weather deserve it — not mandatory to enjoy.
- Two nights minimum; three better. Cave hotel near Göreme saves transfers.
Days 8–10Ephesus & Aegean coast
Flight to Izmir → Selçuk/Ephesus (early morning), House of the Virgin or Şirince lite, and night in Kuşadası/Çeşme or back to Istanbul for the international.
- Ephesus at midday in August is an oven — go early or in shoulder season.
Practical
Domestic flights
IST/SAW–ASR/NAV and to ADB (Izmir) are frequent. Low-cost baggage: watch kilos.
Where to stay
Istanbul: Sultanahmet or Karaköy/Beyoğlu · Cappadocia: Göreme/Ürgüp · Ephesus: Selçuk.
Tickets & customs
Slots for Hagia Sophia/museums. Mosques: shoes off, respectful dress. Travel insurance.
Food
Kahvaltı · kebap with judgment · meze · baklava · çay. Neighbourhood lokanta > fixed tourist menu.
Tips
Bosphorus ferry
Cheaper and more city than a closed tourist cruise.
Pamukkale + Cappadocia express
In 10 days with Istanbul and Ephesus, Pamukkale usually doesn’t fit. Choose.
Balloon: valley plan B
If wind cancels, sunrise on foot in a valley is still the trip.
Only Grand Bazaar selfies
Go in, compare, leave for a neighbourhood — Istanbul is more than the tourist arcade.
