A very safe city. The main risk, as in any tourist destination, is petty theft in areas with a high concentration of people.

Low violent crime rate.It is safe to walk around the city at any time.Strong police presence in tourist areas.
You have to keep an eye on your belongings on busy beaches, markets and public transport.

Transport

85

Good network of urban buses and an excellent tram (TRAM) that connects the city with Playa de San Juan and the entire north coast to Denia.

The TRAM is a modern, efficient and panoramic way to travel along the coast. The bus network is extensive and reaches all neighborhoods. The center is very walkable, so public transportation is mainly used for longer distances.
There is no underground metro, all transportation is on the surface.During peak summer hours, services to the beaches can be very full.

The 'Mushroom Street'

Alicante people eat late. Lunch is usually between 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., and dinner no earlier than 9:00 p.m.

The Nap is Real

Many small shops and local businesses close after lunch, approximately from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., especially outside the tourist center.

Tap Water is Drinkable
