4x4 Vehicle Rental and Driving: Most of the country's roads are gravel roads. You drive on the left. It is highly recommended to rent a 4x4 all-terrain vehicle (many equipped with a roof tent for free camping). It is crucial to check the tire pressure depending on the terrain, carry two spare wheels and do not exceed 70-80 km/h on dirt tracks to avoid skidding.

Planning and Reservations Months in Advance: Hotel infrastructure and campsites within the national parks (especially in Sesriem/Sossusvlei and Etosha camps such as Okaukuejo) are limited and in very high demand. It is recommended to reserve the accommodation and the 4x4 vehicle between 6 and 12 months in advance during high season.

Currency and Payments (Namibian Dollar and South African Rand): The official currency is the Namibian Dollar (NAD), which is pegged 1:1 to the South African Rand (ZAR). Both currencies are accepted interchangeably throughout the country. Credit cards are accepted at gas stations, hotels and large supermarkets, but it is mandatory to carry enough cash for tips, tolls and remote stores.

Health, Climate and Vaccines: Namibia is one of the safest countries with the lowest health risk in Africa. There are no mandatory vaccines to travel from most countries (except yellow fever if coming from endemic areas). In the north (Etosha and Caprivi) there is a seasonal risk of malaria during the rainy season. The thermal differences between the hot day and the freezing night in the desert require dressing in layers.
