Tips for Gastronomy

Dare with the 'Francesinha'

It is the most famous dish in Porto. A sandwich of various types of meat, topped with melted cheese and a secret tomato and beer sauce, often served with a fried egg and potatoes. It is not light.

Understand Port Wine

There are many types (Ruby, Tawny, White, Vintage...). A winery tour is the best way to learn the differences and discover which one you like best.

Look for the 'Tascas'

For a cheap, authentic culinary experience, look for the 'tascas' or family-run eateries on back streets. They usually offer a 'prato do dia' (dish of the day) at a very good price.
