View full guideMadrid is a very safe city, but as in any large capital, you must be careful with pickpockets in the subway and in areas with large tourist agglomerations. Summer can be extremely hot, with temperatures exceeding 35-40°C, so it is vital to hydrate and seek shade in the central hours of the day. The public transportation system (Metro) is excellent, it is the best way to get around the city.
