Je l'ai déjà été !Explora el fascinante pasado de Nuremberg y descubre cómo se ha desarrollado a lo largo de los siglos.
First mentioned in 1050, Nuremberg quickly grew in importance thanks to its location on key trade routes. The Imperial Castle (Kaiserburg), built on a sandstone crag, became one of the most important palatial residences of the Holy Roman Empire.
Its golden age was between the 15th and 16th centuries as an Imperial Free City. It became an epicenter of the German Renaissance, home to artists such as Albrecht Dürer, and a center of printing, science and commerce. It was considered the unofficial capital of the Holy Empire, since the Imperial Diets were held here and the imperial jewels were kept.
In the 20th century, the city acquired a dark new fame when it was chosen by the Nazi Party as the venue for its massive annual congresses. Zeppelin Field and other monumental structures are witnesses of this era. After being almost completely devastated by bombing in 1945, it was symbolically chosen as the site of the Nuremberg Trials, where Nazi leaders were tried for their crimes, laying the foundations of modern international criminal law.
