The Costa Cálida extends throughout the Region of Murcia, in the southeast of Spain, offering more than 250 kilometers of coastline bathed by the Mediterranean and, exclusively, by the warm and shallow waters of the Mar Menor. Semi-arid Mediterranean climate with very dry and hot summers. Very little rainfall, concentrated mainly in autumn (risk of occasional 'cold drop') and spring. More than 315 days of sunshine a year.
The waters of the Costa Cálida are known for their high temperature, ideal for swimming from May to November, exceeding 22°C. In the Mar Menor, the temperature is even higher, and can reach 30°C in the middle of summer (July-August). In spring, months like March see cooler temperatures of around 16°C.
The presence of jellyfish can vary in the Mar Menor, especially during periods of proliferation. It is actively monitored and managed. In the open Mediterranean it is less common.
