I've been there!Explora el fascinante pasado de Berlin y descubre cómo se ha desarrollado a lo largo de los siglos.
With origins in the 13th century, Berlin grew to become the capital of Prussia in the 18th, a center of the Enlightenment under Frederick the Great. It established itself as a leading industrial and cultural metropolis in Europe at the end of the 19th century.
The 20th century defined Berlin. It was the vibrant capital of the Weimar Republic, then the dark heart of the Third Reich. Devastated in World War II, it was divided by the Allies, becoming the epicenter of the Cold War. The construction of the Wall in 1961 physically sealed this division, creating an island of freedom in the West and a symbol of oppression in the East.
The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 is the most iconic moment in its recent history. This event triggered the reunification of Germany and transformed Berlin into a gigantic project of reconstruction and reinvention, attracting artists and creatives from around the world to turn it into the capital of cool and alternative that it is today.
